Rosie McGurran

Rosie McGurran's BiographyRosie McGurran is a native of Belfast and has been living and working in the village of Roundstone in the West of Ireland for over seven years. She is a graduate of Fine Art at the University of Ulster (1992) and has practised as a visual artist since then. Her work is mostly influenced bythe surrounding landscape of connemara where she paints semi-abstract and figurative works.

There is a strong sense of narrative and story telling in her work, particularly in the semi-autobiographical female figures she so often paints and draws. In recent years Rosie McGurran's work has also been shaped by travels to Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the U.S. She exhibits regularly throughout Ireland and internationally and during the Summer months opens the doors of her studio in Roundstone to the public for open viewing.

Rosie McGurran is the recipient of many awards, most recently the Conor Prize for figurative work at the Royal Ulster Academy in Belfast of which she is also an Associate member.
